The Sheridan Arts Foundation & Telluride Ski Resort presents Chris Robinson Brotherhood live at the Telluride Conference Center on Jan. 2 to kick off the 2015 TCC Winter Music Series. CRB consists of Robinson (lead vocals, guitar), Neal Casal (guitar, vocals), Adam MacDougall (keys, vocals), George Sluppick (drums) and Mark Dutton (bass, vocals) and garners raves reviews for their blues-rock sound which combines the direct and immediate songwriting Robinson has long been known for with an expansive sense of space and texture that has never been fully realized until now. Join us for an inspiring evening of history, science and innovation hosted by the Telluride Historical Museum and the Pinhead Institute with the conjunction with the Smithsonian's Places of Invention program. The evening will open with the first public screening of "Hydro Power," a 30-minute documentary by Rocky Mountain PBS about the Ames Hydroelectric Generating Plant. The film will be followed by students giving TED-style presentations on topics describing a specific moment of innovation in Telluride.

Jeff Austin formerly of Yonder Mountain String Band, plays the Sheridan Opera House with Danny Barnes on banjo, Eric Thorin,on bass, and Ross Martin,on guitar, for a two-night run in January 2015. Mandolinist Jeff Austin is unstoppable — known as the former high-energy charismatic front band of one of Telluride's favorite bluegrass jambands YMSB. Mudd Butt Mystery Theatre Troupe of Telluride Academy present The Teeny Tiny Christmas Concert hosted by folk legend Peter Yarrow. Peter of Peter, Paul and Mary will perform an intimate hour of children's songs in the Gallery Room at the Sheridan Opera House on December 29th from 4-5pm. Yarrow is not only a passionate musician but also commits his time and talent to equal rights, peace, the environment, gender equality, homelessness and other social issues. Yarrow's career has spanned more than four decades and is known best for his connections to Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger and his career with the trio Peter, Paul & Mary. This general admission show is geared toward children ages 3-8 and is a fundraiser for Telluride Academy. Adults must be accompanied by a child age 3-8.

The Holiday Concert Series wraps up with a night of rock and roll featuring Brothers Keeper with John Popper and Jono Manson. Banjo and slide guitar player Tony Furtado plays the historic Sheridan Opera House on Saturday, January 10. Furtado is gregarious, engaging and entertaining both on and off stage. He's been called a genius on banjo and slide guitar, and his own creative interpretation-hybrid of Americana and indie folk/rock is both engaging and captivating. Furtado has often been compared to Ry Cooder and Paul Simon in his latest albums as he guides his attention to detail and proclivity for traditional music into the pop framework. Join us for an inspiring evening of history, science and innovation hosted by the Telluride Historical Museum and the Pinhead Institute with the conjunction with the Smithsonian's Places of Invention program. The evening will open with the first public screening of "Hydro Power," a 30-minute documentary by Rocky Mountain PBS about the Ames Hydroelectric Generating Plant. The film will be followed by students giving TED-style presentations on topics describing a specific moment of innovation in Telluride.

Austin has cultivated his natural musical abilities and allowed himself to be driven by his boldest instincts. Eufórquestra (pronounced yoo-FOHR-keh-struh, think euphoria+orchestra) is energy and rhythm personified. An ever-evolving sound that has been influenced by music from all over the world with an emphasis on funk, pocket and groove is performing for the Telluride Fire Festival! Come hear them play January 18th at the Sheridan Opera House to feel their “Fire” yourself! GA standing room only tickets are $16 until Dec. 15th and $20 after, while reserved balcony seats are $40 until Dec. 15th and $45 after.   • As part of the Sheridan Arts Foundation’s mission to restore and renovate the historic Sheridan Opera House, this spring off-season the historic venue in the heart of Telluride received some much needed improvements to its gold staircase.

    The Opera House’s staircase was built before current building codes were put in place , and the vertical bars on all three floors of the building were wide enough apart to make the staircase a tempting jungle gym and safety hazard for children.
