The Sheridan Arts Foundation presents an intimate night of music with Loudon Wainwright III at the Sheridan Opera House on Wednesday, April 1. Wainwright has had a long and illustrious career highlighted by 22 album releases, a 2010 Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album for "High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project" as well as two previous Grammy nomination. Perhaps best known for the novelty song "Dead Skunk (in the Middle of the Road)" and for playing Cpt. Calvin Spalding (the singing surgeon) on the American TV show M*A*S*H.   • As part of the Sheridan Arts Foundation’s mission to restore and renovate the historic Sheridan Opera House, this spring off-season the historic venue in the heart of Telluride received some much needed improvements to its gold staircase.

    The Opera House’s staircase was built before current building codes were put in place , and the vertical bars on all three floors of the building were wide enough apart to make the staircase a tempting jungle gym and safety hazard for children.
